How do I accept checks by fax? 

Check by fax payments are the safest and easiest to process, as well as the most accurate. Fax checks are so safe and easy because you have an actual picture of the check from the fax you receive. This way, there is no confusion about which series is the routing number, or which is the account number.  Also, there is always a check number.  Just gather all of the necessary information from the front of the check yourself.

Accuracy aside, when you accept checks by fax, it creates a paper trail and a default written authorization for the merchant.  Although it is not even required for check drafting software, the fax is a valuable loss prevention tool, especially in companies that are in high risk categories, or may have potential for fraud or misuse.

Once you accept your check by fax, and enter it into the software, you will create a physical draft of the check for deposit into any U.S. bank the same day.  Keep the fax on file for your records.
